Owning a home in Arizona is a dream for many, but not everyone has a huge down payment. Good news! There are several fantastic Down Payment Assistance (DPA) programs available.

AzHFA’s HOME Plus program offers a grant that can be used for down payment assistance or closing costs for homes purchased in Arizona. Some other features of this program include:

  • Up to 5% of loan amount is provided as a grant
  • Buyer must intend to occupy the home as their primary residence for at least 3 years to avoid repaying grant
  • Household income must be below $92,984
  • Eligible properties include single-family homes, town homes, condos and manufactured homes with a purchase price below $371,936
  • Homebuyer must take a homebuyer’s education course available online

Qualified buyers in Maricopa County can take advantage of Home in Five, a grant that provides up to 3.5% of the loan amount as a non-repayable grant. It can be used for down payment or closing costs. Other good things to know include:
  • Increased assistance for qualified military personnel (4.5% of loan amount)
  • Income and debt ratio limitations apply
  • Eligible properties including single-family homes, townhomes, condos and manufactured homes with a maximum purchase price $300,000
  • Buyer must intend to occupy the Maricopa County home as their primary residence
  • Homebuyer must attend free education course; visit the HUD website to find a class
