Miss HomeStreet Hydroplane Wins 2017 Seafair Cup in Seattle

August 07, 2017

SEATTLE, Wash. – In the third unlimited hydroplane race of the season, Miss HomeStreet and championship driver Jimmy Shane won the Seafair Cup today in Seattle. This exciting news follows last week’s third-place finish at the HAPO Columbia Cup in Tri-Cities.

“Winning Seafair in front of the world’s greatest fans is an amazing feeling,” said Miss HomeStreet driver Jimmy Shane. “We still have a long way to go, but today’s victory puts us in a strong position. Next step: Detroit.”

Considered by many to be the most beautiful and treacherous course in H1 Unlimited Hydroplane racing, Miss HomeStreet and the rest of the boats thrilled spectators with high speeds and top-notch competition on the 2-mile Lake Washington course. The next race is Hydrofest on Aug. 25 in Detroit.

“Hats off to Jimmy Shane and the entire racing team – they did a phenomenal job this weekend,” said HomeStreet Bank CEO and President Mark K. Mason. “Nothing says the Pacific Northwest quite like hydroplane racing. We’re also proud to have been a primary sponsor of Seafair.”
