SEATTLE, Wash. – HomeStreet (NASDAQ: HMST) is proud to announce that today Miss HomeStreet and its championship driver Jimmy Shane have won the Bill Muncey Cup at the 2016 Bayfair on San Diego’s Mission Bay, and have also won this year’s H-1 Unlimited National Championship. The Championship was determined by total points earned throughout the 2016 season.
During the race, Miss HomeStreet and the rest of the hydroplanes thrilled spectators with high speeds and top-notch competition on the 2.5-mile Mission Bay course. These wins follow controversial and close finishes at the 2016 HAPO Columbia Cup in Tri-Cities, the Albert Lee Appliance Seafair Cup in Seattle and the Cold Cup in Detroit. During the first major race of the season in July, Miss HomeStreet had a fantastic win at the 2016 Indiana Governor’s Cup Race at the Madison Regatta.
“It’s a great accomplishment to win the National Championship and Bill Muncey Cup at Bayfair,” said Miss HomeStreet driver Jimmy Shane. “It’s been a great year of racing as a member of the HomeStreet team, and I look forward to continuing to have a long and successful career as a part of this race team.”
Bayfair has a rich history, with the first race occurring in 1964. Just this year, HomeStreet became the Title Sponsor of Bayfair in an effort to become more connected with the San Diego community, as they continue to grow throughout the region. HomeStreet currently has three home loan centers and two new bank branches in the area.
“Congratulations are in order for Jimmy and the entire racing team for a fantastic win and an amazing season,” said HomeStreet Bank CEO and President Mark K. Mason. “We look forward to continuing to take part in this rich tradition for years to come.”
In honor of the Military, on Saturday, September 17, HomeStreet Bank supported a tour of Bayfair with free admission for active-duty military and reservists (with military ID), and half off admission for military families. You can follow Miss HomeStreet’s racing schedule and wins on HomeStreet Bank’s Facebook and Twitter, and via the H-1 Unlimited racing team’s website.

About San Diego Bayfair
San Diego Bayfair has a rich history on Mission Bay with the first race staged in 1964. Thanks to the foresight of city leaders and the legendary hydroplane racer Bill Muncey, the race is the crown jewel of the H-1 Unlimited Hydroplane Series. Bayfair started out as simply a hydroplane race and has grown into what one newspaper columnist described as “a three-ring circus” on the water. That description couldn’t be more apt as there is nonstop action on the water and land. The modern-day Bayfair features hydroplanes, offshore boats, and numerous other classes of boat racing. In recent years, the vendor village on East Village has been expanded to include inflatable jumpers, large slides and an art zone. Explore www.sandiegobayfair.org for more information.
