HomeStreet’s Customer Privacy Policy

Thank you for your trust and for choosing HomeStreet for your financial services needs.  Safeguarding customer information in a matter we take seriously at HomeStreet.  To affirm our continuing commitment to the proper use of nonpublic, personal customer information, we have developed privacy principles to guide us in meeting the privacy needs of our customers.

  1. Keeping Your Trust
At HomeStreet, we believe that protecting the confidentiality of customer information is one of our fundamental responsibilities. While customer information (such as name, address, social security number and credit history) is vital to providing quality service, we also recognize that customer trust is one of our most important assets. An essential part of retaining customer trust is to tell you, our customer, how we safeguard your information, what information we collect about our customers, and who sees that information.

  2. Protection of Information through Established Security Standards
A fundamental element of maintaining customer privacy is to provide reasonable protection against unauthorized access to information. HomeStreet has established appropriate security standards and procedures to guard against unauthorized access to customer information. This includes regular audits and tests of our systems to ensure data security, protection of our physical premises and employee education related to customer privacy.

  3. Collection, Use, and Retention of Customer Information
HomeStreet limits the collection, use, and retention of customer information to only the information we believe is necessary or useful to conduct our business, provide quality service, comply with applicable laws, and offer products and services that may be of interest to our customers. We collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:

    • Information we receive from you (on applications or other forms, via the Internet, or through direct conversations)
    • Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates, or others (such as your account balances and payment history)
    • Information we receive from consumer reporting agencies (such as your credit score and credit usage)
    • Third parties with whom we verify certain information you provide to us (such as account verification for loan applicants or new deposit accounts)

  4. Who at HomeStreet Sees Your Information
At HomeStreet, we restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information. Employees are educated about our policy, our privacy principles, and our responsibility of confidentiality to our customers. Each HomeStreet employee is responsible for understanding how customer privacy applies to his or her role at the bank.
Our policies also require that your information remain confidential even if you are no longer a HomeStreet customer.

  5. We May Share the Following Information
We may disclose the following kinds of nonpublic personal information about you, but only as further described in paragraph 6.

    • Information we receive from you on applications or other forms ( for example, your name and address)
    • Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates, or others, such as your account balance and payment history

  6. Who We Share Information With

In Order to Offer you Products and Services:

In order to provide the best selection of products and services to current and former customers, we may share your name, address and limited information about your transactions with us with our affiliates. Our affiliates include HomeStreet Insurance, HomeStreet Capital Corporation, HomeStreet Bank, and HSB/Windermere Mortgage Services, Inc.

We also enter into a limited number of joint marketing agreements with unaffiliated financial institutions to offer additional financial products and services, such as credit cards, payment systems, and insurance products, that we believe will be of interest to our customers. We provide only limited information we receive from you (such as name and address) or information about your transactions with us (such as loan amount) to these unaffiliated financial institutions.

We may also share customer information with companies that work for us to provide marketing support and other services.  This may include information you provide (such as your name and address) and information from transactions with us (such as your loan balance).

We have written agreements with each non-affiliated third party and each agreement contains a confidentiality clause which requires that your personal information be kept confidential and only be used to offer products or services in accordance with the written agreement.

We may continue to share this information about you with our affiliates or with unaffiliated financial institutions even after you are no longer a HomeStreet customer.

For Operations or as Required or Permitted by Law:

As a function of operating a financial services business, we disclose personally identifiable customer information to service providers we retain and whose technical expertise we use to help us complete transactions and maintain our customers' accounts. We also provide information to government regulators, secondary market investors (such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) credit reporting agencies, companies engaged in statistical analysis, companies engaged in payment processing and third parties to whom our customers ask us to provide information. Information is also made available as permitted or required by law (for example, in compliance with subpoenas and other legal orders). We may disclose personally-identifiable customer information about you for these purposes, even after your accounts at HomeStreet are closed.

  7. Your Right to Opt–Out
If you prefer that we not share non–public personal information about you (except as necessary for operations, joint marketing arrangements or as otherwise permitted by law as discussed above), you may opt-out — in other words you may direct us to not share such information. By opting out you are also choosing not to receive direct marketing solicitations from any HomeStreet affiliate.

You can make your opt-out request in one of the following ways:

If you have previously requested to opt out, you will not need to do so again unless you are establishing a new account or loan with us. We will process your opt–out request promptly, but if you are changing your opt–out status on an existing account, please allow up to 30 days for your request to become effective.

Your opt–out request will apply to accounts you hold individually and to accounts you hold jointly with other persons. Your opt–out request will not apply to any accounts your joint account holder(s) holds individually or jointly with persons other than you.
