HomeStreet Bank provides charitable contributions to our partners in the communities where we do business, and whose missions align with our strategic focus of homes and housing. In 2008, HomeStreet Bank donated over $700,000 to organizations in our communities. Some examples of our charitable contributions include:
- United Way HomeStreet's employees also participate in the United Way fundraising drive each year, to which a significant corporate donation is added. HomeStreet is one of the top 25 companies supporting United Way in King County.
- YWCA In addition to our financial support, our partnership with the YWCA includes HomeStreet staff actively working in the YWCA service centers, holding collection drives for needed items, and “adopting families” at the holidays.
- Habitat for Humanity HomeStreet Bank has supported Habitat for Humanity organizations from Mount Vernon to Salem and from Spokane to Honolulu. We provide leadership and service, and arrange work parties to lend a hand in building homes. Additionally, HomeStreet manages home loans for families in this program.
- Shared Housing Services Shared Housing Services is a community nonprofit organization that provides affordable, alternative housing solutions through home share match and transitional family housing programs. HomeStreet staff provide leadership and hands-on service as well as financial support.
- Portland Housing Center The Portland Housing Center is a nonprofit organization founded in 1991 to make education and counseling services available to low-income first-time homebuyers, homeowners, renters and landlords. We provide leadership, teach classes and make home loans available to first-time homebuyers.
- Hawai'i HomeOwnership Center This organization provides education, information, and support to create successful first-time homeowners in Hawaii. In addition to financial support, HomeStreet Bank staff assisted in the founding of the organization and provide ongoing services.
