HomeStreet Bank Contributes to Scholarship Fund

SEATTLE – HomeStreet Bank's Mountlake Terrace branch has announced that it will continue its support for local recreation activities through a $1,000 donation to the Michelle Ringler Recreation Scholarship Fund.

The city has long had a scholarship fund to help children who couldn't otherwise afford to participate in recreation programs. The fund was renamed last year to the Michelle Ringler Recreation Scholarship Fund in honor of Ms. Ringler, who worked for the city of Mountlake Terrace's Recreation Pavilion for 16 years before her death in January 2008.

HomeStreet Bank's Mountlake Terrace branch has contributed a total of $8,500 to the fund over the last nine years.

"The parks department provides activities that help our youth develop into healthy, active individuals," said Marilla Sargent, banking manager of the Mountlake Terrace branch. "We feel it's important to do our part to ensure that children who want access to these programs do not miss out for family financial reasons."

The check from HomeStreet Bank will be presented the evening of Tuesday, August 4 at National Night Out, an annual crime prevention event.
