HomeStreet Bank Contributes to Tualatin Riverkeepers

TIGARD, Ore. – February 12, 2008 – HomeStreet Bank’s Tigard branch has made a $1,000 contribution to the Tualatin Riverkeepers in support of the organization’s mission to protect and restore the Tualatin River system. The contribution was presented at the annual meeting by Karyn Smith, manager of HomeStreet’s Tigard branch and a volunteer member of the Tualatin Riverkeepers’ finance committee.

“HomeStreet Bank recognizes the connection between a healthy river and a healthy community,” said Monica Smiley, executive director of Tualatin Riverkeepers. “Tualatin Riverkeepers could not achieve our vision of a healthy river for drinking water and habitat for wildlife without the support and involvement of community members such as Karyn Smith and businesses such as HomeStreet Bank.”

Tualatin Riverkeepers is a community-based nonprofit organization that empowers people to protect, restore and enjoy the Tualatin River system through education, access to nature, restoration and advocacy. Tualatin Riverkeepers leads educational canoe trips, works to impact water policy regulations, monitors problems throughout the watershed, facilitates habitat restoration activities, conducts educational programs for youth, and provides support to many groups working for stream and watershed protection. Tualatin Riverkeepers is a member of the Waterkeeper Alliance.

Founded in 1921, family- and employee-owned HomeStreet Bank is one of the largest privately-owned banks in the Northwest and Hawaii. Headquartered in Seattle, the company has assets of $2.8 billion and a network of 30 branch and mortgage offices. HomeStreet Bank is one of the only banks in the country that has consistently received an “outstanding” rating under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). Each year, HomeStreet contributes at least two percent of its pre-tax profits to organizations in its communities.
